Updated Skincare Routine (As a 30-year-old)

3 years ago I made a post about skincare products that saved my skin. Now when I look back at it, I would never use some of those products again πŸ˜‚. Also, my routine was like 8+ products deep and took longer than it needed to. I can confidently say that after years of trial and error, and probably too much money later, I’ve found a routine that works for me with products I truly feel confident in.

It’s crazy to look back 3 years ago and see how much my skin has changed. My skin was super oily and I always had to use a ton of setting powder with my foundation. Today, I can forget setting powder, but my face will still look glowy (in a good way) by the end of the day. Now that I’m in my 30s, I’ve noticed my face is more dry than oily so I’ve had to completely change the type of products I use and my makeup too.

I first start with a gel cleanser to remove my makeup. In the video, I’m using the Beekman 1802 Milk Wash Exfoliating Jelly Cleanser. I love this cleanser because not only is it a great makeup remover and my eyes don’t burn when I use it, but it COMES IN A PUMP. I feel like most makeup cleansers come in balm form which isn’t terrible but a pump is just more hygienic (hopefully that’s the right word). It’s an AHA and BHA cleanser that makes my skin feel so soft and moisturized after using it instead of tight and dry like some other cleansers.

I love a good double cleanse so after the jelly cleanser I use the La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser. This cleanser is amazing if you have dry skin! I always thought you needed an expensive cleanser to get the results that I wanted, but my skincare journey has definitely proved that it’s really the ingredients that make a product, not the price.

Ok so adding this next product truly was a game changer I didn’t know I needed. The Tower 28 SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray is the perfect product. I honestly thought it was a gimmick at first. But when I stopped using it, I realized my skin really needed it! Since adding it back into my routine, I’ve noticed my skin is more supple (ew that word is gross) and softer. I use it right after the shower or at night after washing my face. I love using it throughout the day too when I feel like my face needs freshening up and it doesn’t disrupt my makeup at all.

The most expensive part of my routine is my serum, but I think that’s where you can splurge a little. Plus, I love this little guy so much I don’t think I could give him up! The Summer Fridays Dream Oasis Hydration Serum is probably one of the best hydrating serums I’ve ever used…and I’ve used a lot. I love how light it is but it packs a punch with the hydration.

Eadem is a new brand to me but I quickly fell in love with this moisturizer: Cloud Cushion Airy Brightening Moisturizer. It’s light and full of peptides and ceramides, I’m not a scientist or dermatologist, but I’ve heard those are good ingredients to have in a moisturizer! Again, when you think of dry skin you don’t think of light products, you want to lather as many thick products for your skin to drink up as possible. But that’s not always true! These are some of the lightest products I’ve used and my skin has never felt more moisturized and healthy.

Last but certainly not least is sunscreen! Sunscreen is probably my favorite step in my routine and I always get so excited trying new products. The newest one I’ve been using and loving lately is the Cosrx Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+. I found this product on social media via one of the Kardashians’ makeup artists, makeupbyariel. It doesn’t leave a white cast but it does have a strong fragrance smell so if you’re sensitive to that, I would probably pass. I don’t mind fragrance plus this sunscreen just feels so moisturizing and leaves my skin so glowy.

I love these products and they’re some of the best I’ve used so far, but to be honest, I’ll probably try new ones when I run out just because I love trying new skincare πŸ˜‚. Let me know if you want a post about products I’ve gone through! I do have to add that I get facials once in a while. I don’t particularly stick to a consistent schedule, but I do get them when I feel like I need them. I think they’re a great addition to any skincare journey when you feel like your skin needs an extra oomph.
